Bagnoli del Trigno
The ruins of the castle of Bagnoli del Trigno emerge from the top of a big calcareous rock in a dominant position. Perhaps it is of Longobard origin and was staying of the Counts of Isernia during the Norman period, the Counts of Molise during the Swabian’, the Montefuscolo’s during the Angevin one. During the Renaissance was enlarged towards North and South to obtain a loggia at the noble floor. At the present time it has a polygonal shape and massive, outside walls made of stone with regular-shape ashlars alloyed with mortar and wooden material. You can enter in the castle through a cobbled paving flight. The preservation state doesn’t allow its availability. It appears in ruin state but what has been preserved gives definitely the idea of the stateliness of its original structure. Today, the Ministry of the Arts and the Environment detains its property.
